What is ultra violet radiation? Ultra violet (UV) radiation are invisible rays that are part of the energy that comes from the sun. Overexposure to the sun’s UV rays can cause damage to the skin and cause different types of skin cancer. Did you know one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime? During UV Safety Month, City of Mesa employees are encouraged to inform themselves and take proper precautions from the damaging effects of ultraviolet rays.
